Awesome stuff:
“As obedient Children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy also in all your behavior because it is written ‘you shall be Holy, for I am Holy’.” 1 Peter 1:14-16.
I was doing the devo-thing this morning and mis-read where in the Word my “Daily Bread” was directing me. As I’m working on obedience in my walk with God, I found this passage keen and quite worthy of adding to my collection of “tent stake” verses, even to the point of sharing the verse with you. As a guy, it’s difficult in this day-and-age to be disciplined in purity. Way too many images, scenes, music, webpages, etc are out there that can cause a guy to stumble. With these “tent-stakes” I’m striving to stay on the up-and-up with the WHO Christ calls me to BE. Other Tent-Stakes include: John 15:5, 1 John 3:6 and a verse that I’ve (for a while) strived to truly live: Phillipians 3:7-8. These are just a few of the “stakes” I’ve collected over the years. Praise God for His Word revealed to us, and the Holy Spirit in whom “we can do all things” (Phil. 4:13).
