Here’s the pictures…
Mike D close beside and Mike C far, this was taken on our investigatory ride when the rain paused for a while on Friday afternoon.
As you can see, it was wet and mudville in places…
This is a section of the Fins and Things trail we did on super-wet Saturday
We didn’t do the whole porcupine rim trail due to some of the crew being not experienced enough. Besides the trek back into Moab at the end would have been beyond ability for most of us after the super-long descent. This is down the initial climb we did to the view-spot at the top of the trail: beyond there it’s all down as aforementioned.
One last pic here, from our 1/2 way point where we lunched before down the up portion. It seemed to take over 2 hours to get up to here, and felt like 10 minutes for me to get back down. 2.5 miles, 900 feet. Awesome!

So a great weekend of riding, Moab muddy at first, then quite enjoyable along the Porcupine Rim Trail. Praise God for a break in the weather that allowed not only our previously mentioned muddy Fins & Things ride, but a taste of Slicktrack on the practice loop. Just a short postie this time, and my next (soon) will include some pics of the experience. Great fellowship with Mike C, Mike D, Craig, Jonathan C and S, Bill, Joshua, Kent, and George. The crew of “youngin’s” including Phil, Jim, James, Justin, Patrick, Ben, Jeff, Matt, Wes, and Bobby deserve props for hangin’ in there and some even excelling in the difficult sections along the bit of Porcupine we did. You oughta check back to see the photos, I’ll post ‘em by the end of the week.

Here it is:

And I’m thinking a 29″ SS/Rigid would be sweeter than a new all mountain LenzSport To build one up with the aid of my bro Tafoya and then get schooled on the SS/Rigid tip by Stageman would be sickness defined. Save me some cashola this route, (that behemoth linked above retails at $2k frame only), and get smoother with my skills, and stronger with the physical nature of SS. Starting to think more “grown-up” with regards to riding. Now that I’m a papa I’m thinking less risk is better and should find a safer route for adrenaline infusion. I’d rather save the big-dough for the sweet/plush/racehorse for road riding, as centuries are looking way more doable (and would be way more comfy on something other than my ancient Centurion)!

So I had a coffee at my buddy Brian’s house this eve, and can’t sleep. So just prior to writing this, I was thinking big-time about the weekend upcoming (as posted just prior). What camping gear need I bring? Do I want to bring my own tent? Will I need to wear more than my typical road-ride gear? etc, etc, etc. Here are a few pics of the the B.O.M.B. trip from 2005:
, And another…
Some sick stuff ehh? I didn’t take these shots, but rather they are from the pro-foto guy that accompanied the Believer’s On Mountain Bikes to Moab for their annual shin-dig. Eventually I’d like to have Jess and Asher up (alongside any other future groms) to do Moab with the BOMB gang. It’s craze, it’s a kine meet of all the BOMB chapters from all over the world, at some of God’s greatest trails. For more info on BOMB check HERE.
What I’m looking forward to maybe even more than the riding is the fellowship with some brothers I only see 52 times a year (if that!). If I’m really blessed, I’ll get a ride in with a few of the guys during the season, but usually it’s just Sundays at Church. Anyhoot, I oughta go try and sleep again, up early to serve at the rescue miss again, and don’t want to need a nappsie after i get back.

I am so stoked, and cannot wait to hit it with the brotherhood. It’s been 2 years since the last Men in Moab event had me along, and too-long it’s been. Gotta score the new rubber for the rear-wheel, and pick up a few more odds and ends to make my ride complete. Am pondering rental-local… Check me a bike-lust contender on the infamous/famous slicky-rock…. Prob not, like my own steed plenny-fine. CANNOT WAIT! Riding lots, even when out of town on biz, just to get in “not the last in line” shape. Will post pics, want anything?

WOW! What an awesome flick, if you have the chance, don’t miss this one on the big-screen. The Lives of Others defenitly deserved the foreign Oscar award. Mesilla Valley Film Society featured it this evening, so if able to come down to LC, you might catch it here. Here’s the LINK to the review, ANOTHER for the flicky itself. I was looking for a film that I wouldn’t want on the “hard-drive” or memory, and my original plan of seeing 300 was derailed after a quick stop HERE, as I respect the editors and their take whenever I have reservations about a film that plays so strongly to my flesh. Then, while there I looked at the other movies that are playing these days, I didn’t find anything I really wanted to see without having my sweetheart alongside (i.e. Terabitha, Amazing… ) So finding Lives… playing, and remembering the preview Jess and I saw when we went to see Breach (another fantastic flick) I was all in. Both Breach and Lives have some scenes I didn’t care to watch, but nothing compared to what I was warned away from found in 300. If you’ve seen either of these two movies, I’d love to open a dialogue and discuss with you via the comments section connected to this post. YEAAAA CINEMA!

Hello Dear one,
I’ve been fairly busy lately, and as before took a break from posting. I apologize to those who may have been checking often to see anything new, and found nothing of the sort. Next time I’m busy I’ll post a note just to warn of such absence “prophetically”.
