Ride plans for 2007…

1 comment December 29th, 2006

So, finally I’ve got a brother/pal to hold me accountable to some plans I’ve had for a few years. Next year Brian and I will do our first century together. the Santa Fe Century is our target, and I’ve figured a great way to get in shape/trained for it. This past spring I raised support for Diabetes research and rode in the Tour De Cure event, so in order to help another organization and get the kind of help in the training process I figured raising support for blood cancers was a double-good cause. This organization is how Brian and I are going to help raise support for blood cancers and get ready for the Century.

After the SF ride, next up is the Albuquerque CenturyThis site has info about last year’s ride, and from other things I’ve heard about it this year’s century should be really great. Another ride I’d like to do raises funds for the Davis Phinney foundation. It’s the Copper Triangle Alpine Classic This one is a doozie! 78-miles, 3 mountain passes, and just over 5k of elevation gain.  Hopefully I can manage it as well, being that the scenery in those parts would be spectacular, especially by bicycle.

So if you ride and think you can hang and want to join me, or just want to be part of the cheering section and help out here and there I’d appreciate a comment, at least by that I’ll know someone reads these posts.

Snow be fallin’

Hello,

I know I’ve been slackin’ again with my posts, and you would be too with the balance of work/home issues (chores, etc) and a 9-month-old in residence. That 9-month-old is really something though, so wonderful to be a dad.

Last Wednesday we got hit with about 7″ inches of snow. Pretty neat to see everything covered with white. Right now we’re in the midst of another storm, and out my office window the rose-bush has 3 or 4″ inches piled up on it’s thicker sections. My yard has at least 4″ just beyond and the sky is releasing snowflakes non-stop. the snow right now is different than last week, or even just this morning. Before it was giant flakes that came down pretty strong, and now it’s as if it’s raining in slow-motion. the flakes are small and consistantly falling. Should be pretty deep by the time they say this will pass through. Weather advisory says it’ll be done at 5am tomorrow.

This time a snow-man will be in our yard if I can finangle it. We should have enough snow to do it.

Until next time….

12/30 5am UPDATE: So far this storm has at least a FOOT of snow in the yard.  It’s surreal so soon I’ll post pictures and possibly video to show how gnarly it is!
