Dare to live the Gospel Life

TO PREFACE: So the first Saturday of the month is a Men’s ministry breakfast meeting at my church. I usually attend, and moreso I usually show-up early to help with preperations (cook, etc). At these gatherings we usually have a speaker, either from a para-church-type ministry or someone from within the group who has something to share that warrants the time/audience. From this past weekend’s meet I bring you what God had for us.
Marty Goehring of Family Therapy of Albq. was our guest speaker, and he had an incredible message that applies to not just us guys, but everyone who call’s Jesus their savior and friend. “The One Thing That Matters”, Holiness. Without completely repeating what he said, or transcribing here his handout, I’ll try to pass on what he spoke about.
Holiness is “set apart” as far as it’s nature, “separation from common cause and dedication to a sacred one” defined by the New Bible Dictionary. Awesome that He calls us to be Holy (Leviticus 11:44, Zechariah 4:6, 2 Corinthians 7:1).
“God wills that we push on into His presence and live our whole life there.” AW Tozer, The Pursuit of God.
“We need His Holiness in us, through which we can have true fellowship with Him” -MG
…A few questions I thought you should consider and reflect-on with me…
1. How much of a priority do you place on holiness in your own life? How does your lifestyle reflect the priority you place upon holiness?
2. What kind of things do you do each week that are part of your cooperattion with God in developing Holiness in your life? What kind of things would you like to do more often than you are doing now?
