So somewhere around 70 is the life-expectancy for men, and especially when you factor the risks associated with my line of work (driving 30k a year all-over the SW). In my favor is the hereditary-stuff: my dad’s dad lived into his 9th decade, and his mom is now in her 8th.
IN OTHER WORDS, I’ve hit a milestone in one-way or another…35 snuck up and bit me last Friday. Happy Birthday for me! Yes, it happens to even the best of us: aging. What has always been my outlook on it though is, despite the added years, you are really only as old as you think you are (at least most of the time). I’ve learned if you want to be viewed/evaluated a certain way in other’s eyes, you should act that way as if you already posessed that quality. [I’m having trouble fully recalling this thought, so I’ll continue this point in a later post when my ducks are in a row]
As far as getting older, what I don’t care for is the pain of crashing (i.e. injury) as that pain resides longer than it used to. Other than those physical issues with age I don’t feel so old. With age, hopefully comes maturity and wisdom.

So eventually we’ll have a pond for the lilly reference above, but for now it’s a dream come to life with a patio cover construct. driving along Tramway nearby you can see the edifice rising above the level of our backyard fence. I’ll post some pics later, and probably again when we get the latillas purchased and in place. Awesome stuff, plans coming to fruition, home improvements/renovations, etc.
CSI just started so I should pay attention and quit this post for now. I’ll edit this post later with pics so scroll down to it in the future to see/read the additions.

Today I got the “welcome letter” into the
PK Ambassador network, and am officially a PK organize-’em dude. PromiseKeepers has been a tool God has used in a big way to make me the man I attempt to be each day. God Rocks! It’s such a rush to serve Him. by volunteering (and subsequently passing the training program they require) I’ll be working to develop men’s ministries within churches in my area, and be the “point-man” for both information about coming
PK events, as well as helping PK attendents after the events plug into a church that has a men’s ministry that would be the right “fit”. As stated to a 2nd cousin back in August just after the event
me and my “band of brothers” and I attended in Colorado Springs, I do plan on expanding on what I learned at that event from the notes I took.
Joseph Garlington was probably my favorite, presentation-wise, (God spoke mightily to me through him) but the whole thing was an incredible mountain-top experience that challenged me to this day in my thought-life/words/actions from the smallest thing on up. If you my brother have not your own
“band of brothers” and spend time with them in The Word, you possibly haven’t experienced everthing God has for you in fellowship. I really want to help you get connected. If you are in a fellowship -Right on - and are interested in PK beyond the slick website linked above, leave me a comment and we can discuss it there.

So… I’m a fan of the Pryo Guys and read their blog every so often. Current theological interior discussion (as in rumbling around in my noodle) is charting my ship into waters requiring a seminary background or discussion with a brother who has one. To give you a peak at what subject/area is in “the ring” here’s a quote:
“What is indisputably, absolutely, and uncompromisingly essential to the Christian religion is its doctrine of salvation… If Dispensationalism has actually departed from the only way of salvation which the Christian religion teaches, then we must say it has departed from Christianity. No matter how many other important truths it proclaims, it cannot be called Christian if it empties Christianity of its essential message. We define a cult as a religion which claims to be Christian while emptying Christianity of that which is essential to it. If Dispensationalism does this, then Dispensationalism is a cult and not a branch of the Christian church. It is as serious as that. It is impossible to exaggerate the gravity of the situation.”
John H. Gerstner, Wrongly Dividing the Word of Truth A Critique of Dispensationalism (Brentwood TN: Wolgemuth & Hyatt, 1991), 150
And so you may wonder or reply “why care?” To that I understand your point, been there, done that. We are living in an age where we must as Christians be ready to give a defense, and spend that time with God in His word, discussions, fellowship to really be able to stand firm. Another quote:
“If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, then I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Him. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved; and to be steady on all the battlefront besides is merely flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point. -Martin Luther

So while doing my daily web-graze I found an interesting video-blog you might enjoy as well. Video Blogging is fairly new to the scene, and I often watch Michelle Malkin vent on Hot Air and today it was Bethany from Real Verse filling in. Hot Air is a conservative blog, and is updated daily.
I think V-blogging is really cool, and being that I’ve spent a fair amount of time with digi-video/editing, I’ll be taking a good look at the process to possibly include it on this blog, probably on an additional page by itself. Cool stuff, old-media meets new-media minus the big-media agenda. Real Verse is more my speed, and i’ve been told by a great friend I should ressusitate my “Drunken Rentals” movie reviews, so this might be the avenue. (I finished watching Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita this past weekend, more on that later.)

Office Space is one of my top-10 movies, despite the (harsh) language at times. A decade or so ago I was a temp. hire working for 3 different temp. agencies at the same time (that way I always had an appointment/position lined up, gotta get paid!) Having done so I can commiserate with those still in that office setting, and thus found THIS POST really instructive/insightful. For those of you (my few devoted fans) that are still (and may evermore be) in the rat-race of office life you might find it also insightful and entertaining as I did.

So, as I’ve already posted once today, I’m back at my ‘puter surfing some favored favorites. Wired is a neeto pub that will soon frequent my mailbox (snailmail-style), and such-that it has yet to start it’s monthly pilgrimage I read it’s stories on the web. THIS STORY will rock you, (well maybe not, rock you), but if you don’t already work in a future-tech setting where clusters are common (Hello George!) you might find it really interesting as I did.
At the speed ‘puter-sci is moving, I’m slightly afraid to imagine where it will have progressed by the time Asher has his own blog and/or programming skillz.

SO, This coming Saturday the 14th I’m leading a bicycle ride around the Metro Area. If you’re local and down with bicyclista exercisma, do join. Comment and I’ll fill you in on the particulars if you’re truly up for the suffering.

So if you enjoy electronica, or even non-electronic music for that matter, a link I’ve got on the right is for you-Digitally Imported. As I do expense-reports, tweak excel spreadsheets, or spend even more time at the ‘puter posting here or otherwise “stumblin”, I’m listening to it. It has one of the best selections of the various sub-genres of electronic music (I’m a fan of the progressive and trance channels), as well as non-electronica stations from their sister site, SKY.fm. It’s my jolt of jittery dance-music that was a big part of my life pre-Christ (in the sense of an all-encompasing relationship walk with HIM) from 10-15 years back. DI.fm also has a commercial-interruption-free (as if there are lots of commercials [there isn’t]) that supposedly has even better sound than the 96kb I get through my winamp. Just head-bobbin’ motivation that sometimes has me serious chair-dancing!

The Baby-Bjorn “snuggly” kicks booty. It is so comfortable that if if not for the weight it manages so efficently, you could almost forget it’s there.

The wonder-boy!
A partial-view from inside the Ceremonial Cave. Worth the ladder-climb!
